A Letter from MCRC's Executive Director
Dear Families,
On behalf of our entire organization, I want to welcome you to Milton Community Resource Centre. We are excited to have you join our community and look forward to partnering with you within our programs.
MCRC was established in 1998 following the amalgamation of Milton Children and Youth Services and Milton Community Information Services. Since then, MCRC has continued to grow and expand its programs and services in order to support and meet the growing needs of the children, families and early years’ professionals in our community.
In 2022 MCRC set a new 5-year strategic plan that will guide our work in achieving our mission to empower all citizens of Halton’s diverse community by providing programs and supports that are high quality, inclusive, accessible, and affordable, aimed to address the impacts of poverty and inequity.
MCRC strives to be a strong and contributing organization within the Milton community as we have an important role to play for families and their children. We value and feel privileged to be part of this vibrant and diverse community with a strong connection to the beauty of our surrounding nature. MCRC is located on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, the Huran and Wendat and is more recently the treaty lands of the Mississauga's of the Credit First Nation. We are part of the Dish with One Spoon territory. The “dish” represents the land that is to be shared peacefully and the “spoon” represents the individuals living on and using the resources of the land in a spirit of mutual co-operation. As each of us are treaty people, we are all responsible to ensure the dish is never empty.
We believe that all citizens deserve exceptional service and support with the best of practice based on research and evidence. We believe that to provide these quality programs and services, we need to treat our employees with the same considerations and priorities. This means that everyone is included, valued and respected.
MCRC understands that to provide a strong and sustainable provision of service to our community, we must continue to challenge ourselves to be the best and most current. We know our learning and development as an organization is on-going and what may have worked in the past may not necessarily work now or in the future. Our organization is built on a culture of innovation which supports employees to think of new and creative ways to approach their work, to enrich their field and to support their work environment. We also encourage you to share your questions, ideas and feedback with us at any time – it is critical to hear your voice so that we may develop in ways that are purposeful and meaningful to our community.
MCRC is also strongly committed to advocating for change and advancement in the field of early childhood learning and care. We are active, contributing members and partners with various local, Regional and Provincial initiatives and committees such as;
- Quality Early Learning Network
- The Early Years Provincial Network
- Halton Not-For-Profit Executive Director Network
- Halton Early Years and Child Care Workforce Strategy Advisory Committee
- Volunteer Halton
- Early Years Mental Health Committee
- Canadian Child Care Federation
- Home Child Care Association
- Action Table on Food Security in Halton
- Halton Equity and Diversity Roundtable

Sincerely,
Becky Andrade
Executive Director
